"Venus" – A Manifesto of Art, Love, and Femininity

This sculpture, created by the artistic duo Francioni & Mastromarino, is a true manifesto of their poetic vision and exploration of the female figure. The stylized vulva set among the hair like a diadem—a recurring element in their matrilineal collection—becomes a symbol of identity and a tribute to the generative and spiritual power of femininity.

Even in our Western society, where gender equality is considered an established principle, patriarchal archetypes still persist. It is from this awareness that the work takes its title: "We Should All Be Feminists" —a call to reflection, a warning, and a statement of intent.

The sculpted face, with its contemporary features, merges with a hairstyle reminiscent of past eras, creating a harmonious synthesis of present and memory. The gaze, both sensual and penetrating, is enriched by material textures that emphasize introspection and pay homage to inner beauty and the complexity of female identity.

A Tribute to Women’s Strength

Dedicated to all women who fight every day to pursue dreams greater than the opportunities granted to them, this sculpture is a hymn to determination, resilience, and hope.

Sustainability and Tradition

Made with a blend of eco-friendly mortars and rice husk, this Venus reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental care. Each phase—from clay modeling to mold casting—is entirely handcrafted in the artists’ studio in Pietrasanta, Tuscany. A traditional process that blends artisanal mastery with a contemporary vision.

Francioni & Mastromarino, partners in both life and art, have been exploring the female figure for over twenty years through what they define as “The New Era of Matriarchy.” Each of their works is made using bio-mortar and rice husk—innovative materials chosen for their durability, aesthetic value, and refined materiality.

Internationally Acclaimed Artists

The works of Francioni & Mastromarino are featured in prestigious private collections across numerous countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, the United States, and Italy. Among their most notable creations is the largest sculpted portrait of Leonardo da Vinci ever made (6 meters tall), currently on display in the city of Pavia and recognized as a public monument.
